Non-Profit Leadership Internship

NON-PROFIT LEADERSHIP INTERNSHIP

Maplewood Area Historical Society at the Bruentrup Heritage Farm

Maplewood, Minnesota – $17.60/hour, 32- 40 hours/week

The Maplewood Area Historical Society (MAHS Museum) seeks an engaged and enthusiastic candidate for a 10 week summer internship at the Bruentrup Heritage Farm in Maplewood, Minnesota.

The Maplewood Area Historical Society is a growing thought leader in the museum industry and non-profit sector. Founded in 1997, MAHS Museum in a grass-roots effort with local citizens worked to save the Bruentrup Farm, the last working farm in Ramsey County from destruction. In 1999, MAHS Museum moved six historic structures from the farm to the Prairie Farm Open-Space a mile from their original location and began the daunting task of preserving and restoring the 1890 Granary, 1890 Machine Shed, 1905 Barn, 1905 windmill, 1910 Tin Shed, and 1912 House along with reconstructing six additional Bruentrup structures including milk-house, smokehouse, outhouse, icehouse-garage-henhouse, gazebo, and new machine shed along with gardens and grounds landscaping. Today, MAHS Museum is one of a handful of “small” museums with a full-time staff, and a leading local museum in Minnesota focusing not just on early agricultural history, but indigenous, cultural, suburban, and Hmong histories to name a few. Our mission of educating, sharing, and preserving our local history guides us in welcoming over 13,000 guests to our events, programs, and exhibits annually.
